Autism assessments for children are carried out by Berkshire Healthcare Children, Young People and Families Services. They offer autism assessments for children and young people aged 2 ½ to 17 ½ years of age that are registered with a GP in Berkshire.
If your child meets the criteria above and you still feel an assessment would help, you will need to speak to the school or early years setting to complete some documentation and submit a referral form.
Since June 2024, schools have been able to refer directly for autism assessments. This change recognises that schools are better placed to gather the necessary information and refer rather than the GP. Referrals are not accepted from GP’s directly.
