COVID-19 Booster and Flu Update

Over 65’s

We have been informed we should now be receiving a delivery of flu vaccines for the over 65’s this week.

We are therefore planning to run our first joint COVID-19 Booster and Seasonal Flu clinic on Saturday 2nd October 2021 at the Swallowfield Parish Hall.

You will receive both the booster vaccine and the flu jab at the same time. Invitations will be sent out in the same order that the COVID vaccines were done earlier this year starting with patients aged 80 years and over and frontline health and social care workers.

All patients will be given a Pfizer vaccine no matter what their original doses were. All patients will be required to wait 15 minutes after their Pfizer vaccination so we can monitor any immediate side effects.

Please note boosters can only be given 6 months after your second dose was given.

Invitations will be sent by text message and those without mobile phones will be called separately.

Under 65’s

We held a seasonal flu clinic last Saturday for our patients aged under 65 and at risk and those aged 50-64. We vaccinated over 700 patients during the clinic. These patients will be invited for a COVID booster in due course as and when they become eligible.

For anyone who was not able to attend this clinic we are running small flu clinics in the practice over the next few weeks. These can been booked online or using the automated booking line as per the text message you received.

We kindly ask that patients do not call the practice regarding your flu or booster vaccine unless absolutely necessary – we will notify all patients as soon as we have opened up the clinics and you become eligible.
