A full appointments system is used for all our surgeries including our branch surgeries and evening surgeries. Once you have registered you may see any of the doctors, but we encourage you to see the same doctor concerning a particular problem whenever possible. Urgent cases will always be seen on the same day by a member of our acute illness team.

We provide a choice of different ways of consulting with a clinician (see below) and can offer doctor and nurse appointments at least four weeks in advance. If you require a chaperone for your appointment please inform reception when you book. Please note: your appointment may be videoed for training purposes. Consent will always be sought prior to this.
Please ensure you arrive in plenty of time for your appointment – if you are late you may have to wait until the end of the surgery so that we do not penalise other patients who have arrived punctually. We prefer it if you can book yourself in using the touch screen in the waiting room (at the Swallowfield Surgery only) as this frees up receptionists to answer the phone more quickly! If you need to cancel your appointment please do so as soon as possible to enable the time to be given to somebody else. Please note that your consultation may be videoed for training purposes. Your explicit consent will always be sought prior to this.
For those with impaired hearing, we have Hearing Loops available at all three surgeries. There is also an e-mail address which is available for those with speech or hearing difficulties. Please ask at Reception for more details of both these services.
On Line Appointment Booking
GP appointments at all three surgery locations can be booked (and checked or cancelled) on line via the link at the top of this page. To use this service you will first need to register for it by completing and signing an authorisation form which can be downloaded here or collected from reception. Please note: this facility is currently only available for patients aged 16yrs and over. You will also need to bring two forms of identification with you (one of which must be a photo ID) ie passport, driving licence, recent bank statement/utility bill. You will then be emailed your login details within approximately five working days. Once you have registered for it, this service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for GP appointments only. For practice nurse and HCA appointments you will need to speak to a receptionist.
24hr Automated Telephone Booking (0118 976 9606)
If you don’t have internet access, you can still book GP appointments 24/7 using our automated telephone booking service, Patient Partner, which allows you to book, check or cancel appointments. All you need to use this service is a touch-tone telephone, your contact telephone number and your date of birth. To use Patient Partner, just ring (0118) 976 9606 and follow the simple instructions.
Please note - if we suffer a power cut in the area, our computer system will keep going for up to 20 minutes without power. After that it will shut down and this service will not be available until the computers are restarted. if the power loss happens whenwe are closed, this service will not be restarted until 08:00am the next working day.
If we have your mobile phone number, on the day before your appointment you will get a text reminding you of the date, time and location of your appointment. If you do not want to receive these texts, please let us know.
Please note – you must remember to let us know if you change your contact telephone numbers, home or mobile!
